Boil Water Notice for City of Southmayd Public Water Systems

October 29,2025

Due to a major water main break causing a severe loss of pressure to below 20 PSI in The City of Southmayd’s Public Water System for the entire west side of the City of Southmayd, from Gibbons Rd to Collins Rd, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required The City of Southmayd PWS#0910045 public water system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses).

City Well- West side

**Update**

For those on the West side of Southmayd who live along Hwy 56, Southmayd Rd, and in The Village you will not have any water due to the massive water leak. Everyone else on the West side, your water pressure will be returning to normal once the pressure has built back up. Again, we will keep you updated as we get more information and we are extremely sorry for the inconvenience. If you have any questions please contact the City Hall at (903) 868-9420.

There is a water leak on the west side of town which has caused little to no water pressure. We will update when the leak is repaired and water pressure is back up and we are very sorry for any issues this may!! cause.

The phones are currently back up.

The phones lines for the Southmayd City Hall, Police Deptartment, and Fire Department are currently down. We do not have an estimate on when they will be back up. Will post updates as we receive them.
