Position Summary: City Administrator / Chief of Police

The City Administrator / Chief of Police serves in a dual leadership role as both the City’s Chief Administrative Officer and Chief Law Enforcement Officer. This position provides unified oversight of municipal operations and public safety, ensuring efficient, cost-effective service delivery to the community while maintaining accountability to the Mayor and City Council.

In the administrative capacity, the position manages daily city operations, oversees staff and departmental functions, implements policies adopted by the City Council, and directs financial management, including budgeting and compliance with state regulations. The role also serves as the primary liaison between the City Council, employees, citizens, and external agencies.

As Chief of Police, the position leads all law enforcement operations, including enforcing state laws and city ordinances, supervising police personnel, conducting investigations, and ensuring public safety through patrol, emergency response, and community engagement. The role is responsible for maintaining compliance with all state law enforcement standards and training requirements.

This dual-role position requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to balance administrative responsibilities with law enforcement duties. It plays a critical role in maintaining transparency, coordinating city services, and promoting a safe and well-managed community.
